Android USB Connection Issues

Help guide for customers experiencing USB connection issues on certain Android phones

Why does my ClariMate disconnect after a few minutes on my Vivo phone?

Some phones from Vivo (and other manufacturers) include a built-in USB security feature that limits continuous USB data access to around 5 minutes. This is designed to protect your phone from unauthorised data access. Unfortunately, it can also interrupt legitimate accessories like the ClariMate.

Is my ClariMate device faulty?

No. If your ClariMate works normally at first but disconnects after several minutes, this is almost certainly the Vivo USB timeout and not a fault with your device or cable. Try the steps below to resolve it.

How do I fix this? (recommended steps)

  1. Turn off battery optimisation for ClariMate

Go to Settings → Apps → ClariMate → Battery and select No restrictions or Unrestricted. This could prevent the OS from suspending the app's USB session in the background.

  1. Check for a USB security or timeout setting

Some Vivo models have an explicit toggle setting for USB connection. Go to Settings → Accessibility & convenience → OTG connection. If you see it, try enabling or adjusting the timeout duration.

  1. Keep the ClariMate app open and in the foreground

While using your ClariMate, try to keep the app visible on screen rather than switching away or locking the phone. This helps the OS treat the session as active and reduces the chance of an automatic timeout.

  1. Make sure the ClariMate app is up to date

Open the Google Play Store and check for a ClariMate update. Recent versions include improvements specifically to maintain stable USB connections on phones with timeout restrictions.

I've tried all the steps above and it's still disconnecting. What next?

Please contact our support team. When you get in touch, let us know your Vivo model number and Android version (found under Settings → About Phone) so we can give you the most specific advice for your device.

Will this problem affect other Android phones too?

The 5-minute USB timeout is most commonly seen on Vivo devices and some other brands with heavily customised Android builds. Most standard Android phones (Google Pixel, Samsung, Motorola) do not apply this restriction and should work with ClariMate without any extra steps.
